Cal-Wood Education Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting people — especially youth and families — to the Colorado mountains through immersive environmental education programs, retreats, summer camps, and family adventures. Our mission is to inspire a greater appreciation for the natural world, expand access to environmental education for those who might not otherwise experience it, and provide unique educational opportunities in a spectacular mountain setting west of Boulder, Colorado. Cal-Wood’s scratch kitchen provides fresh, nourishing meals to our students, retreats, and family camps.
Position Summary
Cal-Wood Education Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Dishwasher and Prep Cook to support our food service operations for students, guests, and staff. This role is essential to delivering nourishing, high-quality meals in a dynamic outdoor education environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a team, thrives in a fast-paced setting, and is committed to supporting our mission through excellent food preparation and kitchen management.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash dishes and appliances.
- Prep food and meals.
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards are consistently met.
- Work collaboratively with dining and program staff to support meal service flow during busy periods, including evenings and weekends.
- Adapt to changing schedules and group sizes while maintaining quality and timeliness.
- Support cleanup and end-of-day kitchen closing procedures.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 1 year of food preparation experience.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as part of a flexible schedule.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred:

Bilingual — Spanish fluency highly preferred to support our community and guests.
